Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development
Over 3 billion people depend on oceans, with 80% of global trade by sea. Pollution, warming, and acidification threaten marine ecosystems and livelihoods. Urgent action is needed to protect oceans, invest in ocean science, support small-scale fisheries, and manage marine resources sustainably. Efforts to reduce coastal nutrient inputs show some success, but algal blooms indicate ongoing eutrophication challenges. Globally, chlorophyll-a anomalies in exclusive economic zones decreased by 20% from 2018 to 2020. Ocean acidification, caused by carbon absorption, is lowering pH levels, endangering marine life. Open ocean observation sites note a continuous pH decline over the past 20-30 years.
At QBS Co we believe in the reduction of GHGs in all forms through the introduction of Green and Hybrid energy based IT solutions, we believe our proposals will contribute, on a small scale, towards improving pH in the coming decades
